Ramon Sessions Teams Up With Boys And Girls Club Donating $250K For The Club To Break Ground
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) - NBA player and Myrtle Beach High School Alumnus, Ramon Sessions, announced Wednesday he is partnering with the Boys & Girls Club of the Grand Strand to construct a new building in the Booker T. Washington community.
Last year, News13 reported to you the nonprofit would have to find a new home after the Horry County School District announced plans to demolish the building it was in for a new middle school to be built.
Sessions donation of $250,000 launches their capital campaign to raise funds for the construction of a new building complete with educational space, media center, technology lab and a gymnasium with a full basketball court.
“I grew up in these same schools running these same streets and going to the same recreation center so it’s fun. It’s always fun to get with the kids and have a good time,” Sessions said.
He will not only be a lead contributor, but plans to be involved in the entire process and with the youth and teens the center will serve. Sessions grew up in the Racepath community.

A center that will serve the Boys and Girls Club current roster of 240 kids and work to expand that number up to 500.
“If we don’t get our youth early then it could be trouble because the youth is the future. So, I feel like, this center with The Boys and Girls Club with Dionne and everybody partnering together it’s going to bring us adult together event more. And the youth will see us together and make change even better,” Sessions.
It support, the club’s CEO says is necessary for the success of not only the building but the club.
“If you take all of that away and we just stand alone with the money, we wouldn’t be the same organization. It takes our community being behind us. And when I mean behind us, they are 100% behind us right in the trenches with us,” Dione Buonto said.
Sessions says the groundbreaking should happen next year with the facility up and running in the next couple of years.
